The abbreviated form of a Company Secretary is a CS. The CS Course is offered by ICSI, the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. ICSI was set up in 1980 to regulate the profession of company secretaries in India.

The Design of CS Course : -

CS Course consists of two levels :-

Level 1 - CS Executive.

Level 2 - CS Professional.

CS-EET is Company Secretary Executive Entrance Test which has to be cleared to qualify for CS-Executive Program.

BRIEF OF CSEET (Company Secretary Executive Entrance Test)

  1. This is an entry-level exam to enter CS-Course.
  2. Registration with ICSI is open through out the year.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

When to appear for exam?

For the four slots of CS-EET the following table will guide you :

SUBJECT AND EXAMINATION PATTERN :

There are 4 papers & all are of Objective Type

Paper-1: Business Communication.

Paper-2: Economics & Business Environment.

Paper-3: Legal Aptitude & Logical Reasoning.

Paper-4: Current Affairs & Presentation and Communication Skills.

ABOUT EXAMINATION :

When are the attempts in a year?  :    June and December.

Which Medium one can choose?   :    English

What are the passing criteria?      :     40% marks in each subject.

50% marks in aggregate.

BRIEF OF CS EXECUTIVE

  1. This is second level of CS Course which is followed by CS-EET.
  2. Registration with ICSI is open through out the year.
  3. There are two modules in this level, Module 1 and Module 2.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

1. When to register?

A. Candidates for December Exam can register till May 31th for both modules.

B. Candidates for June exams can register till Nov. 30th.

2. Who can appear?

A. CS-EET Pass outs.

B. Graduates with 50% and above marks.

C. Postgraduates Students.

D. CA-Final Pass out students conducted by ICAI.

E. CMA-Final Pass out students conducted by ICMAI.

Such Students are exempted from passing the foundation program examination.

They can directly seek registration to the executive program of CS Course.

SUBJECT AND EXAMINATION PATTERN :

There are four paper in each module.

Module 1

  1. Paper-1: Jurisprudence, Interpretation and General Laws.
  2. Paper-2: Company Law.
  3. Paper-3: Setting up of Business Entities and Closure.
  4. Paper-4: Tax Laws.

Module 2

  1. Paper-5: Corporate & Management Accounting.
  2. Paper-6: Securities Laws & Capital Markets.
  3. Paper-7: Economic, Business, and Commercial Laws.
  4. Paper-8: Financial and Strategic Management.

ABOUT EXAMINATION :

BRIEF OF CS PROFESSIONAL

  1. This is the final level course for CS Course.
  2. This level is divided into 3 modules containing 3 papers each, therefore 9 papers in total.
  3. As per the convenience, candidates may either appear for one module at a time or all the 3 modules.
  4. Before registering with ICSI for CS Professional one needs to undergo a pre-exam online test.
  5. This pre-exam online test is a computer-based online MCQ test in which the students can appear from their homes using the allocated login id and password.
  6. All nine papers under this professional program are subjective; However, two of the nine papers are Open Book Exam based wherein the students are allowed to carry their books and notes when they appear for the respective paper.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Professional Program can be pursued only after clearing the Executive Program of CS Course.

There are 3 papers in each module.

  1. Paper-1: Governance, Risk Management, Compliances and Ethics.
  2. Paper-2: Advanced Tax Laws.
  3. Paper-3: Drafting, Pleadings and Appearances.

Module 2

  1. Paper-4: Secretarial Audit, Compliance Management and Due Diligence.
  2. Paper-5: Corporate Restructuring, Insolvency, Liquidation & Winding-up.
  3. Paper-6: Resolution of Corporate Disputes, Non-Compliances & Remedies.

Module 3

  1. Paper-7: Corporate Funding & Listings in Stock Exchanges.
  2. Paper-8: Multidisciplinary Case Studies.
  3. Paper-9: Elective paper ( You can select 1 paper out of below 8 papers )
    1. 9.1 Banking – Law & Practice.
    2. 9.2 Insurance– Law & Practice.
    3. 9.3 Intellectual Property Rights– Laws and Practices.
    4. 9.4 Forensic Audit.
    5. 9.5 Direct Tax Law & Practice.
